A Fourth Way Solution to the Israel and Palestine Conflict through learning from Ireland and Belgium?

I was recently banned from posting on the Labour Friends of Israel’s (LfI) page on Twitter, because I attacked their ‘two-state’ proposal. How they think this is going to solve the problem I don’t know. The fact is if you take each side’s current position to the extreme then there would only be one state – theirs! I call LfI’s position the Third Way, as it is a poor compromise that gives neither of the first and second way camps what they want.

I have a suggestion for a Fourth Way based on two peaceful yet troubled regions of Europe – Belgium and Ireland:

  • All disputed areas, like Gaza could become power-sharing autonomous regions like exists with the Northern Ireland Assembly.
  • The region as a whole could have a ‘general assembly’ like with the Benelux Customs Union which would have a balanced membership
  • The people in the region could decide themselves what they want their nationality to be. They could be Palestinian, Israeli, or both as joint nationality as in Ireland and all would have the same rights, as those in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland do with European Union membership.
  • Using this, someone of Palestine nationality could call the region ‘Palestine‘ and someone of Israeli nationality could call it ‘Israel‘, in the same way the Flemish in Belgium call it ‘België‘ and their less than harmonious co-habitants the Walloons call it ‘Belgique‘.
  • In terms of ceremony, like in the island of Ireland, there could be three national anthems. There could be three flags, like there is for the three regions in Belgium.

This should give everyone what they want, as to the Israelis they would be in an Israeli State and to the Palestinians they would be in a Palestine state and both would be right as far as their individuals lives are concerned, in the same way people in the different regions in the island of Ireland and Belgium can have their own religious identity, regional identity, and political or cultural identity.

What is the purpose of the bureauclass?

In any failed political system are what I call the ‘bureauclass’. These are people whose job it is to get in the way of people who are doing proper jobs.

I came across one today at my local take away. They were an official from the local authority asking why the shopkeeper had not post a poster up which displayed some information that the law said they must. Why are we the tax payers paying for people to go around inspecting whether businesses are displaying posters or not? The Bureauclasses are getting their lifestyles subsided by the businesses who are paying the corporation tax so they can have a job that serves no real purpose!

These bureauclass workers in the public sector are getting good pensions and unnecessarily high wages though union negotiations when they produce nothing but paperwork. Printed matter can’t be so essential to our GDP than we need the bureauclass to exist to fund it?

My truth about the Holocaust

In most parts of the West people know that there are two types of German in European history – The Nazis and those who sat by while the Nazis did the devil’s work.

All they know is that the Nazis suppressed the Jews, what they don’t know, is that the Nazis turned the table on the Zionist Jews by making them flee back to Palestine so they could no longer suppress the German food producers.

The Nazis were originally only interested in gassing the disabled, but the resentment to the Jews that was built up by the way the Zionists treated the German farmers, etc. is what resulted in the Holocaust against all Jews and not just the Zionists.

The Zionists then pleaded that they were the ones being suppressed, and the West then gave them the Israel State, which has meant the Zionists now have their ideal position as repressors rather than the repressed.

My belief and value system

My values, which I have derived through an empirical factor-analysis, are what I use to guide my choice of beliefs at any point in time. These are-

  • Equality in Opportunity
  • Equality in Understanding
  • Equality in Relevance
  • Freedom of Aspiration
  • Freedom of Choice
  • Freedom of Expression

In interacting with the world, one’s values will guide the way one responds to the beliefs expressed by others and considered by oneself. If one tries to assert both one’s values and associated beliefs onto others I call this morality, which has no place in a democracy. If however one tries to convince others of one’s beliefs while respecting their own values then this is what democracies are all about.

Take a look at some of the competing belief systems I wrestle with in trying to find the perfect ‘truth’.

The Literary belief set

My literary belief set are those beliefs I have developed from reading literature or examining other media texts from which I have constructed a social reality. The following are types of Literary belief:

  • Religious beliefs. There are those things I think Biblical texts say, those things I think people of certain faiths believe, and there are those which I think support my values and should form part of my religious identity.
  • Cultural beliefs. There are those that I think established media texts say, those that I think people of different protected characteristics generally hold, and there are those that I think reflect the way I see myself through my values and should therefore become part of my individual cultural identity.

The Experiential belief set

My experiential belief set are those beliefs I have developed through interacting with the world and the people in it, reflection on these, and verification of them with other sources such as research papers and philosophical books and texts. My experiential beliefs include:

  • Scientific beliefs. There are those that I think established scientific texts and my own empirical and theoretical evidence says, those I think people of different scientific philosophies believe, and there are those which I think can help realise my values when used in a particular way.
  • Political beliefs. There are those that I think established political texts say, those I think people of different political positions believe, and there are those which I think support my values and form part of my political identity.
  • Personal beliefs. There are those that I think my mind and body want be to believe, those that I think those in society would prefer me to believe, and there are those that I believe that support my values, which I need to train my mind and body to believe  – one could call this my ‘soul’.

The role of my website

  • My weblog and blog aim to reconcile my personal beliefs with all the others.
  • My letters and op-eds aim to create debate in the public sphere around these discussions
  • My notice board and policies aim to present my best reconciliation that supports my values and beliefs while recognising and allowing others as well.
  • My publications aim to present a theoretical grounding of my understanding of the world, and evidence to inform the development of my ever changing and developing set of beliefs.

How the education authorities terrorised me like the State of Isreal does Palestines

I used to have unfavourable attitudes to the Muslims, but then then I went to university with some and found out they are just like anyone else. This did not make me think the so-called extremists were right in their actions, but I have first hand anecdotal evidence of what was going on.

What turned me to realise the Muslims were not brainwashed fundamentalists was when I read the letter from Osama Bin Laden to America. I knew then it was the US support for Israel’s suppression of the Palestinians that made the 9/11 attacks the only option they could conceive.

Since 2011 I have gone through similar emotional states to the Palestinians. For some reason those with power, such as Steve Evans at Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council, and Karen Robson at Cardiff Metropolitan University are doing their best from my perspective to screw up my education at the most important stage – doctoral.

Steve Evans from RCT and Karen Robson from UWIC are withdrawing support I have had for years, such as computer software for my home study area that I need for my studies, and which was recommended by and independent assessor they sent me to see. Steve Evans from the LEA and Karen Robson from the University have been trying to change the people I work with and have build up trust and rapport with. Parts of the Assessment I had say my computer equipment should be renewed regularly, and because it is expensive they are saying it is not suited to my needs, when it was recommended by a tutor at a previous university who I went through a lengthy process with to pick it.

I have been made to feel like there is no way out, and suicidal because of this. UWIC is the only University in the world offering the Doctor of Information Systems degree, which I want, and Karen Robson from UWIC Disability Services and Steve Evans from RCT Student Support know this. I have already completed the first two thirds of the course but I have had to suspend the final year due to the way I am not getting my support needs met.

In the same way the Palestinians have been forced from their homeland by the US-backed terror regime by Israel, I feel I might have to do the same. I am currently dealing with a university in London about putting a PhD application together so I only need to complete one year of study. This should hopefully mean I get my goal of getting my doctorate before I’m 35. I guess like the Palestinians dream of getting their homeland back, I can work towards getting the DInfoSys at UWIC without being hindered by Karen Robson from Cardiff Met Student Services, or Steve Evans from Rhondda Cynon Taf Student Awards section, but I think if I were to move to London then I could escape the terror from Steve Evans and Karen Robson for the time being, and get my life goal of a doctorate.

New Marxism – Achieving Full Employment without Employees

After working with leading business philosophers and organisational theorists at Kingston University for 2 years and three years of reflection and entrepreneurship since, I have come to the conclusion that the Marxist goal of every worker owns their own means of production, distribution and exchange is what we should do. This is possible within the current market economy we have today – I call it New Marxism.

Using co-operative values like self-help people who are employed by the corporations and government can withdraw their labour and state they will only provide it as autonomous sub-contractors through their one-person-band firms or self-employment, or through working with others collectively through co-operatives.

The employee model so dominant today is what is suppressing the working class and keeping them as the ‘proletariat’ as they are at the government and corporations’ mercy. Under my New Marxist model they would be both workers and business owners at the same time – I call this the pluratariat after the concept of pluralism.

The people who work for my co-operative as sub-contractors who used to be employees get more job satisfaction. They can set their own hours, decide whether they want to work or don’t want to work for me, work for other people at the same time, do the work on their terms the way they want to do it, and use their own equipment and work space which they tailor to their needs.

People who like me worked in the construction industry prior to April 2007 know this ‘New Marxist’ approach to a flexible labour force can work. The construction industry is in the mess it is today because the trade unions got the Labour government to make autonomous construction industry professions go onto PAYE in firms who had a monopoly on their labour, which made so many contracting firms inefficient during the slumps in demand that many went bust.

In my view it is the cartel between the government, corporations and trade unions, who want to maintain their existence and vested interests who are suppressing the working classes, who I argue need to make use of one of the freest markets in the world that we have in the UK to take control of their own lives as autonomous contingent workers.

Justice for Georgia

I write further to the news that Anthony Buck from Stockport was sentenced to four months in prison following posting racist abuse on Facebook (Echo, February 16).

Would the police authorities like to enlighten me what the difference between this hateful attack on Muslims that was prosecuted under section 127 of the Communications Act 2003 and those vile attacks on the memory of Liverpool teenager Georgia Varley?

Steve Rotheram, MP for Liverpool Walton, says new Internet trolling laws are needed, thus denying Georgia Varley's family legal justice. Credit: Liverpool Echo

It was reported in the ECHO that after meeting Facebook about the abuse, that Walton MP Steve Rotheram was convinced the issue was one of balancing free speech and censorship and that he would put pressure on social networks. Can Mr Rotheram tell me that if the police are willing to send Anthony Buck to prison for four months, Sean Duffy for 18 weeks, and Jamie Counsel for four years, all for flame trolling offences on Facebook, why the law is somehow too weak to bring justice to Georgia’s family?

How to fend of the PC brigots

If you’re one of the people who thinks things have gone mad with regards to political correctness, then here is a guide for how to counter the PC brigade, or what I call ‘PC brigots’ (a combination of brigade and bigot).

Race

If you ask someone for a ‘Black tea’ and they say that is racist against Black people, you can say, “Are you saying that Black people are all wet and contained? You should be ashamed of yourself.

Disability

If someone says to you that saying “brainstorm” is offensive to those with epilepsy (it is not to me) then say, “Are you saying all people with epilepsy are psychologically disturbed? That is disgusting”

If you say, “That is completely insane!” If someone says, “that is discrimination against mentally ill people” then you say back, “are you saying that people with mental health conditions are all insane? You are so disgraceful”

Sex/gender

One should always try to make one’s language gender neutral, especially as this makes it easier to trip up the PC brigade. For example, if one were to say, “I think all prostitutes should be sterilised so they can’t have children”, then the chances are a PC brigot will say that is discrimination against women. You can then say, “Are you saying all prostitutes are women? You are so sexist”

Summary

In conclusion, to fight off the PC brigots one must turn around what one is being accused of being a bigot on to the PC brigot. So as soon as they say you are bigoted for saying a word that could describe a minority if used in bad faith, you must make them realise it is them acting in bad faith by assuming that word is generalisable to that group they claim to be protecting the interests of.
