Social skills and competences
Excellent relationship skills, being able to immediately communicate with people I haven’t met before. This makes me adept at adult and corporate education and training delivery (C&G qualified) where one may only meet people for a few hours. I have an innate ability to be able to talk about my subject specialism to people of all levels and abilities in a language they can understand (>30 publications, quoted in the Daily Star and The Sun, The Western Mail and Washington Post). In the most high-pressured or crisis situations I can naturally keep calm and provide leadership if necessary.
Organisational skills and competences
Excellent project management skills, including being able to keep people on track when people want to go off in different directions. I make use of my excellent document authoring and policy making skills to do this and am able to cite their contents in situations critical to achieving a project. My abilities at business process improvement are unchallenged and I am often able to find ‘win-win’ solutions through ‘thinking outside the box’ so that everyone feels their point of view is respected.
Technical skills and competences
I have excellent research and written communications skills, and have been able to write up research that has been published in 5* journals in as few as 5 hours. My ability to find relationships between qualitative and theoretical concepts as well as quantitative data is among the best. I have an innate ability to write for difference audience to take account of their differences and communicate on their level.
Computer skills and competences
My computer skills are outstanding. I am able to easily pick up a new computer program I have never used before and have it mastered within hours. I am often complimented on my ability to explain complex computer concepts into single short and understandable sentences. Having been a computer programmer for over 10 years I am complimented on my systems analysis and design skills often.
Artistic skills and competences
My ability to create new knowledge, information and other written and spoken content is second to none. I have over 30 publications including books, book chapters, journal papers and conference papers. I regularly get called on to give speeches and expert interviews to conferences and the media, speaking as confidently on the radio and in front of a camera as a packed audience.
Other skills and competences
I have the ability to run high profile campaigns, including elections and other marketing initiatives I have stood for and won elections myself, and an election candidate I ran a leafleting campaign for topped the polls at a recent election. I am highly skilled in improving the usability of computer systems, having achieved top grades in human-computer interaction modules and university with a lot of commercial work experience in designing, developing and delivering information systems.
